Are you guilty of indulging yourself with extra sleeping hours only to wake up during lunch time? I think every mom had that moment, I have them regularly especially now Ashton likes to sleep lying flat on his tummy. Checking and flopping him on his back regularly to avoid accidents keeps me up all night.
One time, my husband asked me what we were having for lunch and I couldn’t answer because I had prepare none. I searched the kitchen cabinets and found this mommy saver:
Paella in a Can? And no need for a can opener, thank heavens!
Someone at home should have bought this San Marino Tuna Paella because I don’t remember putting it inside the grocery cart. Or maybe, Santa did? I thought it was plain tuna that had Paella flavor – the spanish dish made of rice and seafood that is impossible to cook for starter wives like me. Coincidentally, Paella is one of my husband’s favorite dishes. I don’t like Paella because I know it is full of seafood and it is hard to make. But after opening this can, I regress.
Tell me I am ignorant, but this is really the first time I saw canned rice. I am amazed that’s why I am blogging about it 🙂
The can was heavily and tightly packed with rice that I had to scoop them out with a spoon. Placed the contents on a microwavable dish and reheated for a minute. Honey, lunch is served.
Initially after seeing the contents, I thought that it was just rice flavored with some paella sauce. So, I fried some fish to go with it but after a spoonful of the tuna paella, I discovered it had bits of carrots, green peas, and big chunks of tuna. There was no need to pair it with any viand. I swear that this does not taste like canned food at all.
Canned rice means no more panicking for wives who forgot to cook rice 🙂 But of course, we can’t eat this everyday. Saving it for those hunger pangs and busy days when our hands are so full with work and the baby. One can is enough for me, as in one serving, but if you are a heavy rice eater, two cans should do. I wonder if they will come up with other flavors? Maybe Caldereta Rice and Laing Rice please? ^__^
