It’s been a while since me and my husband went on a spontaneous, let your hair down, and carefree kind of date. The one similar to when we were still single and did not care about anything aside each other. Do you remember how exciting that time was?
The operative words for our date are spontaneous, unusual, and new. So on a random weekday we explored a random spot in Makati whose streets are named after planets: Jupiter, Neptune, etc.
Here’s our tried and tested date trail:
1. Fersal Hotel – a small business hotel that currently offers an overnight promo P2,100 that already includes breakfast and decent WiFi access. Remember, we are dating like new & adventurous couples. It was our first time being in this hotel right smack in one of the most happening spots in Makati.
We loved our decision to check in this cost-friendly hotel. The room was functional, clean, and the location is perfect for our next stop which is just across the street.
2. Century City Mall – I’m a home buddy ever since me and my husband met, he’s always the person to introduce new places to me. It’s been a while since I let him tour me around.
So for this date night, I let my husband introduce me to this new shopping mall called Century City Mall that he’s been talking about. There were very few shoppers probably because of the select big name & imported retail shops like Uniqlo, Rubi, and Cotton On. I happily ended up with items on sale and – I did not have to fight against other shoppers.
I really enjoyed shopping here and hope to bring our son next time.
My husband toured me next to the top most floor that housed hip restaurants and bars. We don’t drink so we just appreciated the view, just as we would when we were younger and had even less budget.
3. Angel’s Pizza – the highlight of our extraordinary date is just walking distance from both Fersal Hotel and Century City Mall. Angel’s Pizza had this unique American diner vibe and felt like the best place to end our night. My husband and I both loved eating pizza on our past dates before getting married and having our son Ashton.
Maybe because pizza is easy to order and it’s something both of us enjoy as a young carefree couple (years ago haha).
The restaurant was serving a new kind of Christmas pizza with festive toppings of queso de bola, Christmas ham, and cranberries.
Unlike other pizza stores, Angel’s Pizza has a local & grounded vibe that make it effortless to chat up the staff. I just had to ask one of the chefs roaming around about their ingredients and pizza making process.
They make and hand toss their own dough, they also use the artisan method of dough aging. This gives the crust that crispy outer layer but soft & chewy on the inside (I use the same method when making my own pizza at home). Fresh & locally sourced ingredients mean more flavor and less need for oil & artificial seasonings too.
We also ordered and I highly recommend the honey barbecue fried chicken. For me, it tastes like and even better than mainstream Korean honey bbq fried chicken. The chicken is meatier, juicier and don’t stick to the bones. From my cooking experience, this is achieved when you use fresh chicken and not the frozen kind.
The fried chicken comes with three different dips and my favorite is the red sauce.
For dessert, I ordered the apple crumble turnover. You can order this ala mode but I’d rather enjoy this warm pie with coffee. My husband ate all the ice cream.
I do wish that Angel’s Pizza serves coffee. I had to walk to the nearby 7eleven to grab a quick P20 French Vanilla Cappuccino CityBlend. Thanks to my spouse who accompanied me to the store just for my coffee fix.
Angel’s Pizza’s dessert and a 20 peso coffee was the best ending to our memorable date night.
