After countless sleepless nights, it’s finally here – one milestone that would make any new mom happy. The baby finally sleeps through the night! During Ashton’s first and second month, I haven’t really slept long hours. Like any newborn, my little boy wakes up every two hours asking for milk or just because. Part of me was going crazy, would I never sleep again? Is this how it’s going to be forever?
Believe me when I say that your sleepless nights will have an ending. Some babies start sleeping through the night at 6 months, but Ashton learned it earlier at 3 months. He sleeps continuously from 12AM to 6.30AM, sometimes even earlier at 9PM until 6AM. How sweet is that?
I feel like I won the lottery! With my new found “me” time, I could blog and try to do some work while Ashton sleeps through. If you are a new mom and your baby doesn’t learn this yet, there’s light at the end of the tunnel 🙂 Yet, with every milestone or skill my son achieves, my heart breaks at the thought he is growing up – and fast.
Already, I miss the sleepless nights when he was super small. I even miss the times when he was still inside my tummy and the two of us are literally inseparable.
Anyway, when your baby sleeps through the night be sure to feed him before he goes to sleep. If he was fed around 12AM then he can go enjoy dreamland until 6AM without the need for another serving of mommy’s milk. Do not lose your alertness as your baby may start to move too much and fall from the bed/crib. Check pillows and be wary he might soon flop on his belly and sleep on his stomach. This might suffocate him, so it is still wise to wake up every hour or so to check 🙂
