Baby: Ashton’s First Food | Mashed Baby Potatoes + Breastmilk

November 25, 5PM – This was Ashton’s first intake of solid food. His pedia recommended mashed baby potatoes with formula milk, but since I have plenty of breastmilk – I decided to use this instead.

Here is how to prepare mashed baby potatoes with breastmilk:

1. For the first day of trying out solids, just use one (1) small baby potato. Wash it thoroughly and boil it for around 30 minutes. Check with a fork if the potato is soft enough. Faster if you cover your pot with a lid.

2. Peel off the skin using a small baby spoon and a fork. I found this surprisingly easy as I expected it would be quiet tedious. Mash.

3. Add one (1) ounce of fresh breastmilk to the mashed potato. I extracted mine while the potatoes were boiling.

Here is the finished product. Ashton loved it and no allergies! 🙂

It’s important for first time eaters to have their first solid food with lots of liquid. Hence the watery/milky consistency of this mashed potato.
