Through other moms, I learned that reading can start as soon as the baby is born. Soft books are the first step to make your child a good reader. Newborns would not be able to see the colors until they are 2-3 months old but surely, they can hear you read the books to them. Or, I just lay it out and place where Ashton can see the colors and flip to change pages from time to time.
This afternoon, Ashton and I caught up with reading his first book. I got this for him before he turned two months. Now he is 3 months old, he can focus on the pages and the colors while listening to me. I just make up stories because the soft book only has one word per page like Apple, Cat, Flower, etc.
Actually, at this age – moms can read anything at all to their baby. Even the milk carton or the parenting magazine you are trying to finish.
Black & White, and Sometimes Red, around Php 400
I am excited to buy more books for Ashton, there are new books now with pop-up pages, some laden with games, and I even saw a book that came with a mask. Although, we should stick to soft books first because my baby can’t even hold a book yet 🙂
Happy reading mums and bubs!
