Cartoon Network’s Toon Machine is in the Philippines until December 23, Wednesday. The Toon Machine is a giant UFO toy catcher similar to what you see on arcades. The parent becomes the real-life claw and the kid gets to control the joystick. The top challenge is for the kids to maneuver the grown-up properly and to grab as many toys as you can in 5 seconds.
Ashton and I went on the first day to grab as many toys as we can. Watch our Toon Machine by Cartoon Network experience:
How to join: The Toon Machine event is completely free and open to the public. It runs from 10AM-7PM at SM Mall of Asia’s Music Hall. When you enter the Cartoon Network activity area, find the registration table on the right side of the giant Toon Machine.
Procedure: After completing the registration for a chance to ride the Toon Machine, the parent or guardian should weigh-in to ensure that the harness can lift you up and safely move you around. Take note that names will be drawn and drawn names will get to experience the Toon Machine to grab as many premium toys and Cartoon Network items.
Toys: During our turn, with me up in the harness and Ashton in control of the joystick – I was able to grab 8 items including 3 Chima Lego sets, 2 sling-shot Aeroforce airplanes, and 2 Headbanz board games. I intentionally avoided the plushies and party bags with assorted items, because my son has plenty of these already and the boxed/branded toys were our top choice for keeping and giving this Christmas.
Fear factor: 3 out of 4 – I only got scared after realizing that I am being lifted up high, hanging up in the air. The trick I found is to focus on the toys below and the voice of my son cheering me on. The Toon Machine is truly a one of a kind experience.
In case your name does not get drawn or called to get the chance to ride the Toon Machine, there are still plenty of activities to enjoy such as:
1. Face painting
2. FREE photo booth
3. Sponsor booths including PLDT Home’s activity booth where children can experience playing educational games on different devices.
4. Paper folding activity/ make your own Christmas tree decor
5. Meet and greet with Cartoon Network mascots like Jake, Finn, and Gumball
Remember it’s not always how many toys you can grab inside the Toon Machine but more importantly, the extraordinary bonding moment with your kids. For more official updates, do check Cartoon Network Toon Machine event page on Facebook.
