Probably one of the first things that came into my mind after seeing a positive result is the cost of giving birth. It would also be the first concern of other normal moms especially the young first timers like me. I tried searching forums and websites for cost estimates and they really vary from one hospital to the other.
It was only during my last check up that I had the strength to finally ask my doctor about the cost of giving birth in my hospital, The Medical City. According to her, here are the estimates of different packages available.
1. Normal Delivery in shared labor room or BB friendly ward – Php 47,000 + Php 5,000 (for epidural)
2. Ceasarian Delivery – Php 67,000
Should a pregnant patient want to deliver in a private room like the Lamaze room it would cost –
The Lamaze Room
1. Normal (Lamaze Room) – Php 80,000
The Lamaze Room is also for those who want an epidural, it just means that your partner can be with you during labor and delivery. The daddy can personally cut the cord and witness the first few seconds of the baby outside the womb. Not to forget, the memorable birthing experience including the hardship of delivering a baby.
The Birthing Suite
There is also a birthing suite I know we wouldn’t be able to afford so I didn’t bother to ask how much it would be.
The packages above (I think) do not include the cost of private rooms where the patient will be transferred after staying for 2 hours in the recovery room.
For now, I am conditioning myself to go for the BB friendly ward unless a pot of money falls into our laps. We are very open to the blessings of the universe though 🙂 Daddy Azrael wants to be there from the first contraction to our baby’s first cry – we will see what we can do ^__^
