My big sister and I used to watch the 90’s tv drama “Felicity”. If you were a fan like us, you know how the story happened around a cafe called Dean & Deluca. Upon hearing its opening in Manila, I swore we’d have brunch here one day.
We went on a weekday so the cafe won’t be as busy and we can enjoy our catch up. I only see my sister every 2 years since she lives in Australia.
Unlike other cafes I frequent, Dean & Deluca’s seating are spaced out generously. I appreciate there wasn’t the buzzing sound of people chatting, coffee machines grinding, and that usual sound of busyness so to speak. There were other customers no doubt, but I loved the more peaceful ambiance.
Maybe its because I don’t see a queue up front, D&D has table service meaning you can order from your table and choose from their menu.
Here’s what we ordered:
The cafe latte was a bit too strong for me, I am not a regular coffee drinker that’s why. I only drank half a cup which I enjoyed sipping after each bite of my fresh & warm Pan Au Chocolat.
My niece Anya enjoyed her ham & cheese croissant.
She was boasting about croissants she tasted in Paris and how thee Parisian version were more delicious. I’d believed her if she didn’t insist on taking away two more pastries:
Pan au Chocolat and Nutella something
My sister Joni ordered the Reuben sandwich. It took a little more time reaching the table, about 10 minutes. Good thing we had a lot of catching up to do. The wait is okay after seeing this:
She liked it but noted the sourdough isn’t as sour. My explanation is that perhaps this was better suited to the Filipino taste.
Overall we had a very nice brunch at Dean & Deluca. The service crew were amazing too.
If we weren’t on a tight schedule, we could have easily stayed longer in Dean & Deluca to appreciate other food items. I just took photos of everything else:
I can’t wait for my next brunch out 🙂
Total bill for all the food we ate is just Php 1,100+
