Fashion isn’t always the first thing on a mother’s mind, for many it can even be the last. I remember a time when I just gave birth to Ashton and I totally couldn’t care less about fashion. I wore shorts, shirts and even bought uniform styles in different colors. The point was to make dressing up a cinch. It felt good to save extra time and money, but… a little sad to let go of the stylish girl I was once. Sometimes, all we need is just a little inspiration to form a style strategy that is practical, wearable, and fashionable all at the same time.
I’ve always liked dresses but didn’t realize I could still wear them post child birth. Dresses can work very well for moms, the rule is to keep things classic and simple. Here is an example from DressFirst:
Pink is very soft and feminine. I don’t know about you but when I gave birth, I feel that mother nature injected me with testosterone and gave me that “defensive” look like a mother lion to her cub. Pink is a good reminder that we’re ladies and act like one. A princess v-neck is also a great way to add shape to your silhouette, plus lets you accessorize with different necklaces for differing looks.
Most of my dresses look expensive but they really aren’t. A good rule to follow is to buy something that fits you very well, not just your budget. Always try on pieces before buying them and remember your existing items like cardigans, suits, and accessories. If you want, you can even bring them with you to ensure you can create versatile looks with a single piece.
