I am now breastfeeding for 3 years, can you imagine? It feels like yesterday when I was still clueless on how to do it. I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the breastfeeding advocates, especially moms themselves who continue to educate people about breastfeeding through their blogs, online forums, and social media. Resource about breastfeeding has never been this plenty and it only continues to increase. Malls and other establishments in the Philippines are becoming even more breastfeeding friendly too.
The Mother and Child painting above is created by Raks Molata which was only one of the many paintings that were exhibited at The SM Aura in celebration of Breastfeeding Month.
The exhibit was sponsored by Philips Avent Breast Pump which is not surprising because it’s now become a partner of many breastfeeding moms like me. My first Philips Avent breast pump was gifted to me by my mother-in-law. I still remember how happy I was to receive it. I was initially using the traditional breastpump with a small balloon you squeeze. The first time I used Avent, I was amazed at how much milk I got to extract and consequentially, increased my milk production.
I continued using Avent for about 1 year and a half in tandem with traditional latching. We’re so lucky that technology has improved the breastfeeding experience and bonding even more. I am sure there are more models of breast pumps now, automatic or not, single or double, etc. If you are a new mom, don’t be discouraged to ask, research, and learn about the best breastfeeding choices for you 🙂
