Hi! Mommies, have you recovered from the holiday rush yet? It’s not yet over because in 4 days, we’ll be welcoming the New Year, 2011 🙂 Like the recent Christmas celebration, this is Ashton’s first New Year and so I am rolling my sleeves up again for another practical, hassle-free, and enjoyable party at home.
I am enacting new “New Year” traditions which includes turning on our pond which runs on commercial pumps and recycling some materials I’ve used last Christmas. Like one, the funny hats and eye wear I’ve stashed in a box. However, Christmas hats won’t be included anymore and I’ve replaced them with bunny ears I have collected over the years.
My sister also donated a new head wear which she bought for 80 bucks. Pitching in is my husband, who is currently downloading a software to mimic a real photo booth like those we see in events. The only thing missing is the backdrop with the words Happy New Year.
I don’t like fireworks and I am scared of them, so this year – I am giving everyone a party popper. A set of these costs around 40 bucks at National Bookstore. I tried Toy Kingdom but the remaining poppers are gigantic. It’s better to get everyone to participate by giving each a tube to pop when the clock hits 12.
Everyone is also wearing red for luck, my sister and I bought matching outfits and also bought a new polka dot dress for our mom. Later today, I am getting Ashton a red outfit.
With New Year, there is much more opportunities for games, especially while waiting for 12 midnight. I already have an idea what to do but won’t publish it here (my family could be reading). But do you have any suggestions for games?
(Edited since my mom is not spending her new year with us):
For the food, I am preparing homemade burgers, spaghetti, tortilla chips with dips, and New York cheesecake. I also just bought Perrier which I will mix with some alcohol-free liquors for a bubbly drink.
Have you started preparing for the New Year?
