Lately, I’ve been envious of my sister Joni’s dishwasher. That machine isn’t as common in the Philippines unlike in western parts of the world. I imagine how much time I will save, including brain clutter that dirty dishes are waiting at the sink. But I remember reading a minimalist blog on how washing dishes can be enjoyed as a time for solitude, quiet, and peace. He is right and I try to remember that every time I’m washing dishes. During weekends I listen to solo piano music on my husband’s iPhone while I’m at it.
I also like experimenting with different dish washing soaps, liquids, and pastes then find out which saves me the most time and money. In this post, I’ll review one of the newest products in the market which is Joy with Olay.
I’ve overheard people say how the combination of Joy with a lotion sounds weird and unnecessary. They must be lucky not to experience dry hands after dish washing or, they’ve not experienced dish washing at all. When Ashton was a baby, I barely left the sink washing bottles, my breast pump, small toys, and other accessories. This was extremely drying to hands so I always use any lotion I could grab to moisturize.
Now that I’ve put Joy with Olay in context, let’s find out its cleaning power. Here, I try it with dirty dishes from our merienda time. I only use a small pea size Joy with Olay on the sponge. The liquid really appears different because its white and I could imagine the Olay in it.
Here’s a product saving tip: read the instructions. To make the product sud, gently squeeze your sponge a number of times to produce suds or bubbles before using it. This also distributes the product evenly so you get more bang for your buck.
Joy with Olay smelled good but not as strong as I expected. But, I like that the scent plays with your imagination and you don’t feel like you’re washing dishes. You’d know what I mean when you try it. The product has a soft consistency/feel on both hands and dishes too.
To save on dish washing soaps more, don’t forget to apply some pressure on every scrubbing motion. I see people put loads of product on the sponge and just “swipe” it over the plates. For me, it’s better to use the right amount of dish washing liquid and ensure you’re physically removing dirt too.
Overall, I enjoyed using Joy with Olay. It helped me feel better about washing dishes sans my piano music on the background. Price wise, Joy costs more than other dish washing soaps, pastes, or liquids. It’s a special treat for my hands that I’d probably interchange with my dish washing paste since I still have some of this left.
