My OB finally gave me Natalac during my first postnatal check-up. Natalac is a supplement for breastfeeding moms to produce more milk. Natalac is also known as malunggay or Moringa Oleifera Lam capsules, those small leaves that people tell you to take while you are pregnant.
I consumed fresh malunggay leaves before and even tried the powdered form. The fresh leaves are best but you get sick of eating it everyday, plus the time required in picking, preparing, and cooking.
The powder (which I take in its juice form) tastes like leaves. I bought a pack from a bazaar and it cost me P300, all of which went to waste. The moringa powder I bought tasted so bitter which made it hard to drink.
Conclusion is that the most convenient for me is to take Natalac. I think it has helped me produce more milk, I take it twice a day as my OB instructed.
UPDATE December 2015: My son is now 5 years old and I am proud to say he is still breastfeeding (now only at night). Natalac was helpful during the first few months up to 1 year of breastfeeding. In my opinion, it helped my body establish a milk producing routine that helped supplied milk in the initial stage of breastfeeding. I stopped taking Natalac when I reached optimum breast milk production when I had more milk than my son can consume, it was a good problem to have 🙂
