I have been waiting for the right companions to dine with at Todd English Food Hall. We have been hearing about and seeing them on TV (KrisTV) and on Instagram.
The place must be packed with curious diners during its opening phase. One weekday I finally went with my big sister and niece. We didn’t have any reservations and the kitchen was already taking last orders. We didn’t mind.
Todd English has an extensive menu that reads delicious but the lack of visual i.e. what you order will look like made choosing quiet difficult. Nonetheless we were suprised at how our orders turned out.
Fried Oysters P320
Tuna Tartare P350
We had oysters and tuna tartare for appetizers. The quaility of food and the uniqueness in flavor was exciting, as if we discovered oysters for the first time. You will know what I mean when you try this. This dish will make the usual baked oysters cry.
Hanger steak lunch special with risotto tater tots and Todd English caesar salad P600+
I had the lunch special that suited my healthy diet of greens and protein. The steak was perfectly tender and juicy.
Anya had this pasta dish with parmesan fries
Parmesan Fries P140
We shared this huge sushi boat/stairs
We were about to leave after settling the bill, when suddenly this dessert was placed on our table.
Surprise!
Was it complimentary or part of my lunch special? Who knows but the sinful dessert was nice. The 3 of us shared it to lessen the guilt.
The food at Todd English is worth the raves but we have a tiny comment about the service. The wait staff was challenged in explaining food items (such as their 3-4 course lunch special) and could not determine how much the food had cost. For instance, when we chose fried oysters over baked ones and asked about the price, the person only said baked oysters were more expensive.
That said, I still am looking forward to my next meal at Todd English. The food, taste, and presentation is nothing ordinary and so it feels like a special treat yet we find the price reasonable and sulit for the serving size.
Before I forget, the place is also nice (we went on a weekday) but it’s really the food which is the star here. Compliments to the chef who I assume is named Todd English 🙂
